TANZANIA - President's Malaria Initiative ('11-'12) - U.S. Peace Corps Response - Dar es Salaam, Tanzania - Disaster/Public Health Response: Malaria: Program Liaison and Partnership Coordinator coordinated the start-up of the national level Stomp Out Malaria initiative in Tanzania, a partnership of the U.S. Peace Corps Response and the USAID President's Malaria Initiative, as Tanzania's first Peace Corps Response volunteer.

PHILIPPINES - Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc. ('10-'11) - U.S. Peace Corps Response - Quezon City, Philippines - Disaster/Public Health Response: Human Trafficking from the Disaster Zone: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Research and Advocacy: Researched and recommended policy for gender and child protection and the integration of anti-human trafficking initiatives into the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Framework of the Philippines, in a project that is among the first of its kind worldwide. Created a module of educational materials for use in the capacity building of government and NGO disaster workers. Includes elements of research, writing, educational materials development, training presentations and related networking and collaborative activities as a disaster related NGO Capacity Building Specialist.

KENYA - U.S. Crisis Corps (’02) - Kahatia, Central Province, Kenya, East Africa - Disaster/Public Health Response: HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Capacity Building Specialist: Worked with local NGOs (CBOs) as part of an HIV/AIDS related disaster relief initiative in one of the most acutely HIV-affected regions of the world. Provided leadership training, principals and strategies for CBO(NGO) formation, training of trainers, funding development, collaborative design of sustainable community outreach strategies, community education and mobilization functions.

NIGER - Republic of Niger, Ministry of Mines and Energy - U.S. Peace Corps (’86–’88) - Dogondoutchi, Niger, West Africa - Conservation Extension Agent: Served with the county level government of Niger on a national environmental conservation project involving natural resource conservation and forest protection. Community education presentations, mobilization of trainees, and networking in rural and semi-rural areas of Niger, West Africa.

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency ('08) - Beaumont, Texas - Disaster Response: Hurricane Ike: Disaster Housing Operations Specialist: Site identification and assessment for the establishment of emergency housing parks in the disaster area. Disaster housing inspector, performed quality analysis/quality control inspections on the siting and construction of emergency housing units.

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency ('08) - Topeka, Kansas - Disaster Response: Tornado and Deadly Weather: Hazard Mitigation Community Education and Outreach Specialist: Performed public education and outreach duties related to disaster preparedness, prevention, recovery and reconstruction practices in a dozen counties of southeast Kansas. Represented the Federal 406 Mitigation program to various local government officials and public employess as a function of public infrastructure recovery. Performed causative analysis and damage inspection of devastated public buildings.

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency ('07) - Olympia, Washington - Disaster Response: Massive Flooding: Hazard Mitigation Community Education and Outreach Specialist: Repetitive-loss analysis and data collection on residential housing for the National Flood Insurance Program, analyzing and recording causes of repetitive loss from natural calamity on and around Vashon Island, Washington.

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (’05) - New Orleans, Louisiana - Disaster Response: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita: Disaster Recovery Center Advisor: Provided program advocacy to disaster victims regarding residential prevention, mitigation, and reconstruction concerns.

U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency/U.S. Crisis Corps (’05) - Boutte, Louisiana - Disaster Response: Hurricane Katrina: Individual Assistance Caseworker: Among the first 50 volunteers deployed in the historic first ever domestic deployment of the U.S. Peace Corps, following the largest natural disaster in United States history (Hurricane Katrina). Assigned to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and trained as an Individual Assistance Specialist (IA), served as a first response caseworker, providing one-on-one assistance and program advocacy to disaster victims.
